Chelmsford Public Schools Comprehensive Assessment

Last year, the Chelmsford School Committee and administration initiated a thorough review of our current school facilities to assess their condition and identify deficiencies to be incorporated into future short- and long-term capital plans. In addition to identifying work necessary to maintain our current school facilities for the years to come, we also sought to identify potential new building construction, addition, and/or renovation projects in the Town of Chelmsford to address the long-term enrollment and evolving educational needs of our students.

The Chelmsford School Committee and administration will be hosting community forums to review the results of the Comprehensive Facilities Assessment and discuss and seek input into the various master plan options that have been identified for consideration.

The master plan options for the Chelmsford Public Schools identified throughout the facilities review process will be further explored over three (3) evenings in the coming weeks. The dates for the public forums are as follows:

  • Tuesday January 24, 2017           Public Forum  7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday February 2, 2017         Public Forum  7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday February 16, 2017       Public Forum  7:00 p.m.

Each of these public forums will be held at the Chelmsford Senior Center located at 75 Groton Road in North Chelmsford and your input and opinions on the various options are encouraged and welcome. Please consider joining us at any or all of the community forums listed above as we work to seek consensus on short- and long-term facility investments in the Chelmsford Public Schools.






The Chelmsford Public Schools is performing a comprehensive facilities assessment to review the physical condition of our facilities as well as to determine modifications to existing buildings to meet the educational needs of our community in the years to come.

Student enrollment projections, grade level configurations, and school feeder patterns will be analyzed to ensure the district has capacity for future desired educational programming.  The school department has contracted with Dore and Whittier, an architectural and project manager firm, to perform the assessment.
