Longtime CPS educator discusses the significance of Pi Day
CHELMSFORD, MA (Mar. 14, 2022) – Chelmsford Public Schools K-12 Mathematics Coordinator Dr. Matthew Beyranevand was featured on CBS 4 Boston Monday with Levan Reid on the significance of Pi Day, also known as 3/14.
Through recent years, the significance of Pi Day has grown, which Dr. Beyranevand says is nothing but positive.
“It’s become an annual celebration, where students across the globe do an activity related to Pi,” said Dr. Beyranevand. “It’s a great way to better understand Pi and to do something fun and engaging, which at times can be a struggle in math classes.”
Dr. Beyranevand has been on CBS 4 Boston several times in the past, often as an expert opinion for its Eye on Education series. He was also featured following the launch of his three books, Partnering With Parents in Elementary School Math; Adding Parents to the Equation; and Teach Math Like This, Not Like That.
Dr. Beyranevand is an oft sought-out speaker on mathematics education, presenting at events and organizations such as the Global Math Project, SXSW EDU Conference, MassCUE and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
