McCarthy Middle School Singers Selected For the 2020 Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) All-State Treble Chorus

CHELMSFORD, MA – The Chelmsford Schools Fine and Performing Arts Department is proud to announce that 6 students from McCarthy Middle School have been selected to be part of this year’s Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) All State Treble Chorus!  The All State Treble Chorus showcases the talent of some of the state’s youngest singers. This program is offered by the MMEA as an enrichment opportunity providing a musical experience to talented young people. Participating students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their artistry and to create new friendships.

Auditions for the Chorus were open to students in grades 4-6 whose teachers are members of MMEA, and audition recordings were submitted online. Student applicants prepared for auditions with Choral Teacher Jodi Richardson. The students who were accepted to the festival will rehearse with guest conductors and then perform in a concert at the annual MMEA Conference in Boston in March. This year, internationally renowned conductor Emily Ellsworth will direct this year’s All State Treble Chorus.

Special thanks to the Chelmsford Friends of Music, which provides financial support for the CPS students to participate in the All State Treble Chorus.
