In the Summer of 2026, Chelmsford Public Schools (CPS) partnered with District Management Group (DMG) to conduct a comprehensive review of its historical annual appropriated budget. Given that CPS is committed to maintaining high educational standards while being fiscally responsible, the review included an evaluation of the effectiveness of past budgets as well as recommendations for the district to continue to align spending and operations for a successful, sustainable future.
This work included assessing the impact of historical budgets, engaging select district leaders and stakeholders, finalizing a report, and presenting findings to school committee members.
The report outlines the findings from DMG’s review of the financial landscape of Chelmsford Public Schools. The findings are broken down into three major sections:
- Historical Analysis of Outcomes, Budgeting Practices, and Evolution of Student Needs
- Chelmsford Public Schools SWOT Analysis for Resource Management
- Recommendations for Chelmsford Public Schools
Overall, this report aims to provide the district with specific recommendations to continue to optimize community resources while maximizing educational outcomes for students.
