CHELMSFORD, Massachusetts (February 14, 2024) – Numerous students will be representing Chelmsford Public Schools in three upcoming Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) festivals.
All-State Festival
Three Chelmsford High School students have been selected for this year’s MMEA All State Festival, including one musician who is first chair for his instrument.
“This will be such an exciting opportunity for these young musicians as they rehearse with peers from across the state, learn from world-class conductors, and perform at Boston’s Symphony Hall,” said Christy Whittlesey, Fine Arts Coordinator for Chelmsford Public Schools.
The Symphony Hall performance will take place on Saturday, March 23.
The students who will be participating are:
Ryan Blaine, French Horn (First Chair)
Adam Pinto, Tenor
Jack Tallent, Tuba
Treble Choir Festivals
Several students from Center Elementary, Harrington Elementary and Parker Middle Schools will be participating in the upcoming MMEA-Northeast District Treble Choir Festival and the MMEA All State Treble Choir Festival (each for students in grades 4-6).
In light of the recent middle school re-alignment, Parker Middle School music teacher Martha Robertson said it was hard to predict the interest, availability or motivation of fifth and sixth graders wanting to be recommended for a festival chorus.
“In order to gauge the interest here at Parker, we held auditions and had nearly 50 submissions,” she said. “The few chosen to represent our school at both Northeast District and All State are wonderful exemplars of this well supported and loved Chelmsford choral community.”
