
Chelmsford musicians win multiple medals at MICCA Festival

CHELMSFORD, Massachusetts (April 10, 2025) – Student-musicians from Chelmsford Public Schools had an incredibly successful weekend at the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association (MICCA) Festival.
This year, the Chelmsford High School band and the Parker Middle School chorus earned gold medals at MICCA. In addition, five other ensembles from the district earned silver medals and another took home bronze.
Here were the full results for CPS participants:
- Chelmsford High School Band – Gold
- CHS Orchestra – Silver
- CHS Concert Choir – Silver
- CHS Treble Choir – Silver
- McCarthy Middle School Orchestra – Silver
- Parker Middle School Orchestra – Gold
- Parker Middle School Band – Bronze
- Grade 6-12 All Town Wind Ensemble – Silver
“We are so proud of the outstanding performances and achievements of all our ensembles,” said Christy Whittlesey, K-12 Fine and Performing Arts Coordinator for Chelmsford Public Schools.
Many students in grades 4-6 participated in this year’s Massachusetts Northeastern District (MMEA-ND) Treble Chorus Festival over the weekend, as well.
“A special thank you to Center Elementary music teacher Chris McGillicuddy for coordinating the festival,” Whittlesey said. “[His] leadership helped create an enriching and memorable experience for all involved.
Whittlesey also thanked Chelmsford Friends of Music for paying the festival registration fees for participating students, as well as all CPS music teachers for offering these opportunities for student-musicians to grow, perform and shine.
“Their hard work, creativity and commitment to musical excellence continues to make a lasting impact on our school community,” she said.
