20 Chelmsford student musicians accepted into MMEA festivals

CHELMSFORD, Massachusetts (Feb. 6, 2026) – Chelmsford Public Schools will be well represented next month during a couple Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) festivals.
Six Chelmsford High School student have been selected for this year’s MMEA All-State Festival, including one musician who is first chair orchestra for his instrument.
Those selected to the All-State Festival will perform at The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory in Worcester on Saturday, March 21.
“This will be an exciting opportunity for these young musicians as they rehearse with peers from across the state and learn from world-class conductors,” said Christy Whittlesey, the K-12 Fine and Performing Arts Coordinator for Chelmsford Public Schools.
Students selected to the All-State Festival include:
- Ryan Blaine, French Horn – First chair orchestra (CHS Band)
- Ethan Jiang, Tenor Saxophone – Band (CHS Band)
- Mikey Layes, Tenor – SATB Chorus (CHS Chorus)
- Jack McCreery, String Bass – Orchestra (CHS Orchestra)
- Adam Pinto, Tenor – SATB Chorus (CHS Chorus)
- Jackson SooHoo, Vibes – Jazz Ensemble (CHS Band)
Meanwhile, 14 Chelmsford students from CHS and McCarthy Middle School were also selected to the MMEA-Northeastern District Junior Festival.
They are:
- Shaela Billings – Viola, Symphony
- Owen Goodin – Soprano, SSA Chorus
- Connor Haack – Trumpet, Jazz
- Adrianna Latanowich – Tenor, STB Chorus
- Loren Mendez – Violin, Symphony
- Charlotte Mulholland – Soprano, SSA Chorus
- Sreekanta Saha – Bass, SATB Chorus
- Riya Sarode – Soprano, SSA Chorus
- Arya Upadhyay – Cello, Symphony
- Sawyer Vitt – Trumpet, Jazz
- Cullen Wilson – Trombone, Band
- Aditi Yadav – Alto, SSA Chorus
- Jocelyn Yu – Alto, SSA Chorus
- Spark Zyxnfryx – Viola, Symphony
“These achievements reflect the dedication of our students and the exceptional instruction and support provided by our performing arts educators,” Whittlesey said.
The MMEA-Northeastern District Junior Festival will be held on Saturday, March 14, at Galvin Middle School in Wakefield.
