Chelmsford High School Announces June 2022 Students of the Month

CHELMSFORD, MA (June 3, 2022) – Six seniors were recently honored as Chelmsford High School named its Lions Pride/Rotary Student of the Month recipients for the month of June, announced CHS Principal Stephen Murray.
Seniors Fawad Hussain and Jackie Pottle were named from the Emerson House while Arina Kondakchyan and Kyle St. Peter were honored from the Hawthorne House, and Sophie Boucher and Erin McNulty from the Whittier House.
Sponsored by the Chelmsford Rotary Club for more than 30 years, the Student of the Month program recognizes outstanding students from each of CHS’s three academic houses – Emerson House, Hawthorne House, and Whittier House – for their achievements in and out of the classroom.
Fawad Hussein
With the rigors of five AP classes, Mr. Hussein has earned induction into four national honor societies including the NHS, Science, English and Spanish honor societies. He recently finished coursework in AP Spanish Language and Culture, AP Calculus, AP Psychology and AP Literature, along with Anatomy and Physiology.
An AP Scholar with Honors, Mr. Hussein recently received the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish as well as Biliteracy Achievement Award in Urdu. He was also the recipient of the Massachusetts State Science Olympiad Award of Excellence, helping the CHS Science Team finish 18th among 64 schools at the 2022 Science Olympiad in March.
Along with the Science Team, Mr. Hussein is involved with the Robotics Team, Math Team, and the Freshmen Mentor program. He is currently helping K-12 Science Coordinator Jon Morris create a drip irrigation system for the Science Pond.
Off campus, he is a youth leader and volunteer with the Islamic Society of Greater Lowell, assisting with clothing drives and religious education. He will attend the University of Massachusetts this fall to study biochemistry and molecular biology.
Mr. Hussein is the son of Shahab Hussein and Anne Shahab.
Jackie Pottle
Having achieved High Honor Roll status throughout high school, Ms. Pottle has been omnipresent in the CHS community while standing out in the classroom. She recently completed a semester in which she excelled in AP Spanish, AP Research, AP Statistics and AP Literature and Composition, among other challenging courses.
She has been the recipient of several honors, including induction in both the NHS and National English Honor Society, as well as AP Scholar distinction, the Rotary Youth Leadership Award, and the Saint Michael’s College Book Award.
A member of the a cappella group, The Thursdays, Ms. Pottle was part of the 2021 group which advanced to the International Championship of High School A Cappella (ICHSA) final; and the 2022 edition which advanced to the ICHSA Northeast Region final for the seventh straight year. In 2021, she was named Best Soloist for the Northeast Region, marking the third time she earned such a distinction. She was also named Best Soloist twice at the NE Voices productions.
Ms. Pottle will attend Northeastern this fall where she will major in biology with the hope of becoming a genetic counselor. She is the daughter of Douglas Pottle and Christine Randlett.
Arina Kondakchyan
A member of three national honor societies – the NHS, English and Spanish, for which she serves as vice president – Ms. Kondakchyan has been a High Honor Roll standout throughout her tenure at CHS. In her final semester, she exceled in courses such as AP Psychology, Physics, Pre-Calculus, Exploring Early Childhood 3, and Senior Odyssey, among others.
A tri-lingual speaker, Ms. Kondakchyan is one of two CHS students to earn the DESE Seal of Biliteracy in two languages (Russian and Spanish). She was continually active in the CHS community as a member of the swim and dive team, Lead Like a Girl, Theatre Guild and Freshmen Mentors, for which she serves on the ELL/Transfer Board.
Ms. Kondakchyan has volunteered with the Chelmsford Public Library and with several elementary school classrooms. She has also provided volunteer for childcare while local parents attended Special Education (CSEPAC) meetings.
Ms. Kondakchyan will attend UMass Lowell this fall to study elementary education. She is the daughter of Mario Martinez and Anna Kondakchyan.
Kyle St. Peter
An honor student each semester, Mr. St. Peter recently capped a full slate of challenging courses such as Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, Calculus, Introduction to Architecture and Graphic Design, among others. He is also a member of the National Spanish Honor Society.
Mr. St. Peter has achieved his academic plaudits while playing two sports – basketball and baseball – the latter of which he has helped to the MIAA State Tournament for the second straight year (Chelmsford hosts Bishop Feehan Sunday, June 5 at 12 p.m.). He is also a member of the CHS Unified Basketball program.
Mr. St. Peter will attend Endicott College in the fall to study business. He is the son of Frank and Lisa St. Peter.
Sophie Boucher
A National Honor Society inductee, Ms. Boucher has been an Honor Roll student all four years and recently completed a spring semester that included AP Calculus, Honors Physics, Statistics, Criminal Justice, and Psychology among other classes.
Ms. Boucher has immersed herself in CHSTv and Chelmsford Telemedia, helping produce programs such as 7:19 News, Arts, Community, Sports, and virtually all CHS’s live sporting events. She is also a member of the Freshmen Mentor program, Theatre Guild and CHS Tech. Off campus, she compiled many hours of service with the Chelmsford area Girl Scouts.
Ms. Boucher will attend Curry College this fall to study communications. She hopes to pursue broadcasting in the NFL and possibly teaching about the communications industry. She is the daughter of Michael and Sara Boucher.
Erin McNulty
A member of three national honor societies – the NHS, English and Spanish societies – Ms. McNulty has achieved Honor Roll status each of her terms simultaneously with her commitments to the Theater Guild, Tech Crew, varsity tennis and the Freshmen Mentor program.
The result of her work on the fall musical production of Pippin, Ms. McNulty and her colleagues on the CHS Tech Crew were nominated for several awards from Mount Wachusett Community College’s Theater at the Mount (TAMY), including Best Overall Production, Best Stage Crew and Technical Excellence for Lighting and Sound.
Outside of CHS, Ms. McNulty is a Silver Star recipient from the Girl Scouts of America. She also competes nationally in Irish Dance.
Ms. McNulty will attend Merrimack College this fall to study environmental science, with the hope to earn a master’s degree or attend law school thereafter. She is the daughter of Brian and Shannon McNulty.
