Five CHS Seniors Selected for ‘Hello There!’ Art Show at Loading Dock Gallery

Fourth Annual Greater Lowell Regional Art Show Slated for Jan. 5-30

CHELMSFORD, MA (Jan. 4, 2022) – Five Chelmsford High School seniors were selected to display their artwork at the Hello There! Art Exhibit, part of the Fourth Annual Greater Lowell Regional Art Show, at the Loading Dock Gallery Jan. 5-30, 2022.

The five CHS seniors include Meghan Haynes, William Lambert, Josie Lee, Avery Marr and Daniel Jeong, each of whom are enrolled in an AP or Honors art or graphic design classes.

“We are extremely proud to show our students’ artwork in this show and to share it with the broader community,” said Allison Gover, an art educator at CHS. “It is a great opportunity for us to collaborate with other local high school art programs and to connect local student artists with one another.”

CHS is one of four local high schools represented in the show, along with Innovation Academy Charter School, Groton-Dunstable and Tyngsboro.

The Hello There! show was created to reintroduce young artists and their work to one another following nearly two years of isolation caused by the Covid-19 outbreak. “Created with a focus on hands-on education and collaboration, this show explores the hard-learned truth that contact is a basic human need,” a statement from The Loading Dock Gallery website read. “Hello There! invites us to engage, compare, communicate.”

For Ms. Marr, the honor marks the second occasion within a year that her work has been featured in a show. In early March 2021, her photograph titled ‘Winter Sun’ was selected to be featured in the Massachusetts Art Education Association (MAEA) Emerging Artists Exhibit.

“What makes the work of these students so successful is the high level of creativity and skill that goes into it,” said Ms. Gover, who has been teaching in the Chelmsford system since 2012, and at CHS for five years. “These students work very hard in our art classes to develop unique concepts for their work and to hone their technical skills, and they are genuinely passionate about creating art and pushing themselves to try new things. The artwork in this show shows each student’s unique artistic voice.”

Each of the artists representing the four high schools will be on hand for a reception at the Western Avenue Studios Open Studio on Saturday, Jan. 8 from 3-5 p.m. The Loading Dock Gallery is located at 122 Western Avenue in Lowell.
