CHS Valedictorian Angwin, Salutatorian Yang Honored at MVSA Academic Scholars Luncheon

Merrimack Valley Superintendents Association Scholar Academic Awards LuncheonCHELMSFORD, MA (May 27, 2022) – Chelmsford High School Class of 2022 Valedictorian Ellen Angwin and Salutatorian Larry Yang were honored at the 13th Annual Merrimack Valley Superintendents Association (MVSA) 2022 Academic Scholars Luncheon Wednesday afternoon at Lenzi’s Restaurant.

Ms. Angwin and Mr. Yang joined the valedictorians and salutatorians of the 28 other MVSA high schools who were celebrated by each school’s leadership.

Both Ms. Angwin and Mr. Yang have been exemplary students and leaders at CHS and were named the CHS Students of the Month in September. Ms. Angwin has been a High Honor Roll student three years and has received a slew of honors including Excellence in Mathematics, the Harvard Prize Book Award and Emerson House Most Worthy. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and National French Honor Society.

A standout on the CHS girls basketball team, Ms. Angwin was a Merrimack Valley Conference all-star and led the Lions to a 15-7 record and an appearance in the MIAA Tournament over the winter to cap a four-year varsity career. She was also a four-year player on the CHS girls soccer team, helping the Lions to a 9-5-5 clip and the MIAA Tournament.

Ms. Angwin is among the most involved students on campus, serving as the Class Treasurer of Class Representatives as well as a Mentor Program board member. She is also a member of the Civic Action Club and the CHS Band.

Ms. Angwin will attend Carnegie Mellon University in the fall where she will study engineering and join the women’s basketball team.

Mr. Yang is an AP Scholar with Distinction and a member of several national honor societies. The recipient of the Yale Club Book Award as a junior, Mr. Yang competes on both the Robotics and Science teams and served as a class marshal for the Class of 2021.

Mr. Yang is also a member of the CHS Door Project, a student group which paints murals on classroom doors that reflect teacher character traits.

He will attend New York University in the fall where he plans to major in pre-medicine and pursue neurosurgery or orthopedic surgery.
